Joint Commission on Missing Persons to Meet for the First Time on Wednesday in Brussels

On January 15, in Brussels, the inaugural meeting of the Joint Commission, with the EU Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčak, will take place, focusing on the issue of missing persons from the war.

The Chairman of the Government Commission for Missing Persons, Andin Hoti, stated that the aim of the meeting is to outline the work plan for upcoming sessions, as well as to address several important issues concerning the missing persons matter.

In a Facebook post, he also mentioned that the Kosovo delegation would present key demands, primarily related to monitoring the implementation of the Declaration on Missing Persons, with a special focus on the letter regarding archives, which has been addressed to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

Halil Cenaj has been appointed as the representative of the Kosovo delegation for this meeting.

“Due to high interest, and due to my health condition (cold), through this notice, I would like to clarify some details about the upcoming meeting, which has been announced by Mr. Lajčak. On January 15, 2025, in Brussels, the first inaugural meeting of the Joint Commission will be held, which will take place at the deputy level. In this meeting, Mr. Halil Cenaj has been appointed as the representative of the Republic of Kosovo’s delegation,” Hoti wrote.

“The meeting aims to define the work plan for future sessions, as well as address several important issues related to the matter of missing persons. In this context, our delegation will present some key requests, primarily related to monitoring the implementation of the Declaration on Missing Persons, with a particular focus on the letter regarding archives, which we have addressed to Vučić, and other important issues in this area. This meeting is an important step toward implementing the existing agreement ‘The Declaration on Missing Persons,’ approved on May 2, 2023.”

The agreement on the issue of missing persons was reached in December of the previous year.
