Air units from the U.S., Switzerland, and Hungary participating in the KFOR mission carried out joint formation flights across Kosovo on Friday, May 23, 2025.
Starting from Camp Bondsteel, aircrew and pilots from the three NATO contributing nations conducted coordinated exercises involving one AS532 Cougar from the Swiss Armed Forces, one H145M from the Hungarian Defence Forces, and three UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the U.S. Army.
The drills included joint take-offs, formation flying, and landing procedures, aimed at enhancing multinational coordination and interoperability.
“Crew members from all three nations successfully coordinated procedures and techniques to navigate, communicate, and operate together,” stated a KFOR spokesperson.
KFOR reaffirmed its commitment to its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), emphasizing its role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo, as well as guaranteeing freedom of movement at all times, without bias.
KFOR also noted that it continues to closely coordinate with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX), in accordance with their respective security responsibilities.
