The European Union Office in Kosovo has issued an official recap of Kaja Kallas’ first visit to Kosovo as the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

The core message from Kallas was clear:

Stability depends on dialogue, not confrontation.”

Her visit, conducted on 22–23 May, was part of her second tour of the Western Balkans. In Pristina, she met with EU Office Head Ambassador Aivo Orav and addressed the media, underlining the strategic importance of the region to the EU.

Kallas stressed that normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia is essential for long-term peace and development in the region.

During her two-day stay, she met with outgoing Prime Minister and key political leaders, as well as representatives from civil society.

She also held talks with KFOR Commander Major General Enrico Barduani and visited the EULEX center in Mitrovica, where she was received by Mission Chief Giovanni Pietro Barbano.

The visit concluded with stops at the Basic Court of Mitrovica and meetings with education sector representatives in the city.
