Kalashnikov Rifles, Bulletproof Vests, Over 700 Rounds of Ammunition: Police Seize Weapons Again in North Mitrovica

Following information received from citizens, on February 3, 2026, the Kosovo Police were informed that suspicious illegal items might be located in the basement of a residential building on “Vasilije Ostroshki” Street in North Mitrovica.

According to a police media statement, immediately after receiving the information, police units undertook swift action. During the search of a shared basement area of the building, police discovered and seized a significant quantity of weapons and military equipment.

The seized items include:

  • 3 long firearms
  • 1 additional barrel
  • 1 rifle stock
  • 764 rounds of ammunition of various calibers
  • 14 magazines
  • 10 ammunition clips
  • 1 smoke hand grenade
  • 2 military-grade bulletproof vests
  • 4 potential DNA samples
  • 2 military jackets
  • 1 military uniform shirt
  • 1 pair of military trousers
  • Textile wrapping material and adhesive tape

The State Prosecutor has been notified of the case and has instructed the initiation of criminal proceedings for the offense of “Unauthorized ownership, control, or possession of weapons.”

No arrests have been made so far, and the case remains under investigation.

The Kosovo Police thanked citizens for their cooperation and continued support, encouraging them to report any suspicious activity or illegal actions by calling the emergency number 192 or contacting the nearest police station. Authorities emphasized that only through close cooperation can a safer environment be ensured for all citizens, without distinction.
