EU High Representative Kaja Kallas stated that the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is essential for both countries to progress on their path toward the European Union.

Kallas, who began her visit to Serbia on Wednesday and is scheduled to visit Kosovo on Thursday, followed by North Macedonia, emphasized that now is the time to reengage in the dialogue process.

“I will visit Serbia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia over the next two days and engage with governments and civil society on their path to the EU. The Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is a necessity to move forward. Now is the time to reengage,” Kallas wrote on social media platform X.

On Wednesday, the European External Action Service (EEAS) issued a statement about Kallas’s upcoming visits to Kosovo, Serbia, and North Macedonia. This is her first visit to these countries since assuming her role as the EU’s chief diplomat six months ago.

However, the statement did not specify with whom Kallas will meet during her visit to Kosovo, which contrasts with the detailed announcements for her visits to Belgrade and Skopje.

While it clearly states that in Belgrade and Skopje she will meet presidents, prime ministers, ministers, and others, for Kosovo it only mentions meetings with “representatives of political parties and civil society organizations.”
