The European Union’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, has reaffirmed her strong support for Ukraine, declaring that “Ukraine is Europe” and calling for increased assistance to Kyiv.
“Ukraine is Europe! We stand by Ukraine. We will increase our support so they can continue fighting against the aggressor. Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It is up to us, Europeans, to rise to this challenge,” Kallas wrote on social media.
Her statement follows a heated confrontation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. During their meeting, Trump accused Zelensky of ingratitude and urged Ukraine to make concessions to Russia for peace. Zelensky refused, citing Russia’s war crimes and stating that compromise was impossible.
As a result, a scheduled press conference was canceled, and a proposed rare minerals agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine was left unsigned.
