Shaip Kamberi, the Albanian MP in the Serbian Parliament, met with the European Union Ambassador to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret.
Kamberi stated that he and Giaufret discussed the challenges, obstacles, and difficulties faced in advancing the position of Albanians in the Presheva Valley.
“I emphasized that the European Union and Western values remain the only option and strategic aspiration of the Albanians in the Valley, and that Serbia’s EU integration process must go through respecting and advancing the rights of national minorities.”
“I informed the Ambassador about the continuous stagnation in the implementation of the 7-point plan, as well as about the closing of doors by state institutions for the integration of Albanians,” Kamberi wrote.
Furthermore, he stated that during the meeting he pointed out the systematic negligence by the Serbian state toward the inclusion of Albanians in public institutions, particularly in the police.
“And I raised the concern about the continuation of the practice of address passivation of Albanians. These are phenomena that violate the fundamental rights of our citizens. Therefore, international assistance is necessary to overcome these problems and to advance the position of Albanians,” he wrote.
