Public Space Liberation: Police Seize Over 69 Umbrella and Sunbed Sets on Kavaja Coast

The State Police has announced the continuation of its inspections along the Kavaja coastline as part of Operation “Free Beach,” aiming to liberate public spaces that have been illegally occupied.

In a press release, authorities stated that an area on Vilë Bashtovë beach was cleared after being illegally illegally occupied. Additionally, 69 sets of umbrellas and sunbeds were seized, and one Albanian citizen is being criminally prosecuted.

“The services of the Kavaja Police Station, as part of the ‘Free Beach’ operation plan, have continued inspections along the entire coastline, with the aim of freeing public spaces that are occupied without proper permits by businesses on the coast, by placing umbrellas and sunbeds,” the statement read.

During the inspections, “in a public space on Vilë Bashtovë beach, 69 sets of umbrellas and sunbeds, which had been placed illegally by citizen A. A., were removed and seized. Following the actions, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, where proceedings were initiated against citizen A. A., 52 years old, resident of Rrogozhinë, who will be prosecuted while at large.”

The State Police added that their services will continue inspections along the entire coastline to ensure public spaces are available for vacationers and to verify the activities of businesses during the summer season.
