The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) has expressed concern over the ongoing political gridlock in the Kosovo Assembly, where sessions are being held every 48 hours with no political reflection or concrete outcomes. The KDI criticized the repetitive nomination process, which has turned what should be a constitutional process into a mere formality that fails to produce results.
According to the KDI statement, the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly are only meaningful if they are respected in spirit and function. The institute emphasized that they should not be used as a shield for political unwillingness or to justify a status quo that does not make sense. The KDI also pointed out that the problem now requires political intervention at a higher level, not just a technical one.
The statement concludes by urging President Vjosa Osmani to convene a meeting with the leaders of parliamentary political parties to discuss possible solutions. KDI believes that the President has a constitutional responsibility to ensure the functioning of state institutions, especially when the highest representative institution is blocked. Therefore, her political and institutional engagement is both justified and necessary in this situation.
