British MP Alicia Kearns has stated that the European Union should never have imposed any measures on Kosovo, welcoming the recent decision for their partial removal.
She recalled that the Serb List had boycotted municipal elections and highlighted violent incidents in 2023, during which paramilitaries backed by Serbia injured 30 KFOR soldiers.
Kearns also referenced the terrorist attack in Banjskë, Zvečan, in which police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed, an attack claimed by Milan Radoiçiq. She stressed that the priority should be bringing Radoiçiq and his associates to justice, strengthening regional security, and guiding Kosovo toward a Euro-Atlantic future.
According to Kearns:
“The sanctions against Kosovo were always unjust. Any remaining measures should be lifted, and efforts should focus on justice and regional security.”
Last night, President Vjosa Osmani announced via Facebook that by the end of January, the European Union will remove all measures against Kosovo.
