The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has responded to today’s protest by workers who demanded an average salary of €1,100.
During the protest, workers stated that the “new union of the Kosovo Energy Corporation knows that the average base salary is €750”, while claiming that KEK’s Chief Executive Officer had publicly referred to salaries exceeding €1,000. According to the workers, actual wages are significantly lower than those presented by KEK’s management.
In an email sent to the media, KEK published a table indicating that the average gross salary of an employee in 2025 is €1,226.60, while the average net salary is €1,080.12.
KEK emphasized that employee welfare and working conditions remain a high priority for both the Board of Directors and Management, in line with professional and legal responsibilities related to sustainable development, operational safety, and improved environmental performance.
“KEK remains committed to social dialogue with its social partners (the two unions) to ensure fair treatment of issues related to employee welfare, always in accordance with the company’s performance and real financial capacities,” the statement said.
The corporation added that management and the board have consistently shown willingness to listen to and address workers’ and unions’ demands, while maintaining financial stability.
KEK also highlighted that for years it has provided significant benefits to employees, including:
- Health insurance
- Transportation
- Adequate meals
- Jubilee payments
- Compensation for work experience
- Linear wage increases
- Annual bonuses
