The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK JSC) informs the public that unit A3 of the Kosovo A Power Plant was unexpectedly taken offline today, June 19, 2025, around 00:30.

This shutdown was caused by fluctuations in the electrical system, which triggered the generator’s protective system, resulting in the automatic disconnection of the exciter.

Additionally, on June 17, 2025, a water loss was detected in the boiler of unit A5 at Kosovo A Power Plant. Technical teams closely monitored the situation and kept the unit operational until June 18, 2025, at 00:02, when it was deliberately shut down to prevent a larger-scale malfunction. Meanwhile, unit A4 of Kosovo A Power Plant has been under maintenance since May 16, 2025.

KEK’s management is committed to not only addressing the technical issues but also to upholding a high standard of responsibility and accountability at all operational levels, which is essential to ensure the stability of the production system and maintain public trust.

KEK assures the public that all technical and organizational measures are being taken to restore the units to operation as quickly as possible, in close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders in the country’s energy sector.
