Acting Chief State Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi was dismissed today by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK).
The latest reaction came from the European Union Office in Kosovo, which stressed that Kelmendi’s dismissal hinders necessary reforms within the KPK and undermines Kosovo’s progress on its path toward European Union integration.
“Today’s dismissal of the Acting Chief State Prosecutor by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council obstructs ongoing and essential reforms of the KPK, disregards the principles of the rule of law, and undermines accountability to citizens. It also jeopardizes Kosovo’s progress on its path toward the EU,” the EU statement read.
