KFOR has responded to recent statements by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who twice confirmed U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim of having averted a potential security escalation by Serbia in Kosovo. Most recently, Osmani asserted at the Hudson Institute that Trump’s personal influence prevented a recent escalation on the Kosovo-Serbia border.
In a statement to KOHA, KFOR neither confirmed nor denied Osmani’s specific claim, instead reiterating its unwavering commitment to regional stability.
“The Western Balkans remains a strategically important region for the Alliance. Our commitment to regional stability is unwavering, as reaffirmed by the NATO Secretary General in a media interview during the NATO Summit in The Hague,” KFOR stated.
During the recent NATO Summit, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had affirmed the Alliance’s engagement in the region, noting extensive discussions with leaders in Bosnia and Kosovo.
