The Commander of NATO-led KFOR, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, held a meeting with the Deputy Regional Police Commander for Northern Kosovo, Lieutenant Colonel Veton Elshani, focusing on security developments, regional stability, and cooperation between KFOR and Kosovo institutions.

According to KFOR’s official statement, the meeting was part of Major General Ulutaş’s regular engagements with institutional counterparts and aimed to provide direct insight into local realities, strengthen mutual trust, and enhance KFOR’s operational effectiveness.

“Such regular engagements are a key element in gaining valuable first-hand insight into local realities, fostering mutual trust, and enhancing KFOR’s ability to effectively fulfill its mandate,” the statement said.

KFOR reiterated that it continues to implement its mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), with the objective of ensuring a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all people living in Kosovo, at all times and in an impartial manner.

The mission further emphasized that KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), each acting within their respective roles as security responders.
