KFOR Conducts 80 Aerial Interventions to Extinguish Fires Across Kosovo Municipalities

KFOR has announced that, in recent weeks and at the request of Kosovo’s institutions, it has provided support in extinguishing wildfires in several areas of the country.

According to KFOR data, in the municipality of Gjakova on August 18, twelve water drops were carried out over a five-hour period to help contain the fires.

In Kamenica, on August 11, eleven aerial operations were conducted over the course of six hours.

In Mitrovica, on July 26, KFOR conducted eighteen aerial firefighting interventions within four hours, while in Drenas on July 25, a total of thirty-nine operations were carried out over a twenty-hour period.

“KFOR remains ready, within its means and capabilities, to support the prevention and management of emergency situations in Kosovo,” KFOR stated in its announcement on Facebook.
