The KFOR mission has announced that it has increased security measures following the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal to protect critical infrastructure. KFOR stated that it is prepared to provide security, logistical, and engineering support.
“Following the attack on the water canal in Zubin Potok, Kosovo, the NATO-led KFOR mission has heightened security measures to protect critical infrastructure in the region. The Regional Command East (RC-E) remains prepared to offer security, logistical, and engineering support to all communities living in Kosovo,” reads the latest statement from the mission.
KFOR reiterated that it continues to implement its mandate—based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999—to contribute to a safe environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and to ensure freedom of movement “at all times and in an impartial manner.”
KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and EULEX in their respective roles as security responders.
