KFOR Issues Statement on Visit by Irish Minister Thomas Byrne to “Camp Film City”

The Commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, Major General Enrico Barduani, hosted an official visit from Thomas Byrne, Ireland’s Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, at KFOR Headquarters in Camp Film City, Prishtina.

Byrne was accompanied by Irish Ambassador to Kosovo, Ragnar Almqvist, and Lieutenant General Rossa Mulcahy, Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces.

According to a KFOR press release, the visit provided a meaningful opportunity to exchange perspectives on the current security situation in Kosovo and the wider region.

“Major General Barduani shared his insights and outlined KFOR’s continued commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo,” the statement read.

The KFOR Commander praised the professionalism of Irish personnel deployed within the mission and expressed deep appreciation for Ireland’s longstanding contribution to KFOR since 1999, underscoring its ongoing dedication to promoting peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

KFOR reaffirmed its role under the mandate provided by UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999) to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all people and communities in Kosovo, at all times and in an impartial manner.
