NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in a statement during the NATO Summit in The Hague, emphasized the alliance’s continued commitment to stability in the Western Balkans, as well as maintaining peace and security in the region.
“We remain highly attentive. KFOR is present in Kosovo, EUFOR in Bosnia,” Rutte said, adding that he held extensive talks with leaders in both countries during a recent visit to the region.
He also revealed that a working dinner was held in Brussels with the President of Serbia, highlighting NATO’s active diplomatic engagement.
Rutte stressed that, beyond the traditional lengthy declarations — which, in his words, often sound like stories “from the time of Jesus’ birth to the present” — NATO is aiming to focus on concrete action and effective cooperation.
“We are working closely with European leaders like Kaja Kallas and Ursula von der Leyen. Our goal is to focus on tangible action,” he emphasized.
