Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, issued a message on Monday declaring that “killings and crimes will not harm the jihadist cause of Iran’s armed forces.”
The statement comes after escalating tensions following warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump, who has threatened military action if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Khamenei had not appeared publicly for several days and had remained silent in the immediate aftermath of his father’s reported killing, breaking with the usual pattern of regular public messages following his assumption of leadership.
His latest remarks are widely seen as a direct response to recent attacks and rising regional tensions, reaffirming his stance and highlighting his role in overseeing Iran’s military structures.
