The Kosovo Clinical and University Hospital Service (KHUCS) has responded to recent claims of a physical altercation that allegedly endangered medical staff at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK).

In its statement, KHUCS emphasized that at no point are medical or support staff endangered during the execution of their duties.

“We clearly state that doctors, medical staff, and support staff are not endangered at any time during the exercise of their duties at UCCK. At the Emergency Clinic, police officers and security staff are contracted 24/7 to ensure the safety of both staff and patients,” the statement reads.

This reaction follows reports of a fight involving acquaintances of two victims being treated at the Emergency Clinic.

On the other hand, on-call physician Dr. Avdush Bajgora told Klan Kosova that staff and other patients were indeed at risk:

“We were all at risk — both the patients and us as staff. It turned into a brawl between them. I can’t recall the details exactly, but we barely got out safely,” he stated.

KHUCS clarified that while they do handle sensitive and even criminal-related cases, the presence of law enforcement ensures safety:

“It is true our staff treats various types of cases, including those involving suspected criminal activity, but there has never been a direct endangerment of the medical staff. In situations requiring intervention, the security and police have responded immediately and professionally — as even acknowledged in the physician’s own statement.”

KHUCS considers such alarming public claims as irresponsible and unhelpful for fostering a climate of trust and cooperation within the healthcare system. It reiterated its commitment to offering safe and high-quality services to citizens in a protected environment for all employees.
