North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has cited the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran as justification for maintaining his country’s nuclear arsenal.

Speaking before the country’s Supreme People’s Assembly, Kim stated that current global realities clearly demonstrate the legitimacy of North Korea’s strategic decision to retain nuclear weapons.

“Today’s reality clearly shows the legitimacy of our nation’s strategic choice to reject the sweet words of our enemies and permanently secure our nuclear arsenal,” he said.

He further claimed that North Korea is “no longer a country under threat” because it now possesses “the power to pose a threat.”

Kim emphasized that the government will continue to strengthen its position as a nuclear power, reinforcing its long-standing policy.

North Korea’s nuclear program has been a subject of international negotiations since the country declared it possessed nuclear weapons in 2003. However, talks aimed at denuclearization have repeatedly failed.
