As Kosovo celebrates the 26th anniversary of its liberation, a group of Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans are staging a protest demanding the release of former KLA leaders currently held at The Hague.

Veteran Zenel Kryeziu, speaking on Klan Kosova’s “Ora 7” program, explained the reasons behind this symbolic protest. “We have seen it as reasonable, and that revolt has somewhat overtaken us, because for many years the liberation fighters of this country have been abused, humiliated, and not honored. Indeed, at least a sign of respect from a large number of people is missing,” Kryeziu stated.

He further elaborated on their intentions: “We have decided that on Liberation Day, we will call upon all those who participated in the war and others to organize and protest until the former KLA leaders are released from The Hague. Because injustices are truly being done to us there; they are being held on false charges.”
