The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization has reacted strongly to a decision by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers allowing the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office to submit materials after the closure of the case against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

According to the veterans’ organization, the decision represents a serious blow to the principle of a fair trial.

“After the closure of the case, allowing the prosecution to submit new materials, labeling them as ‘notifications’ rather than ‘evidence,’ constitutes a dangerous procedural maneuver that directly undermines the equality of arms in the process. In this way, the defense of our comrades is being deprived of the opportunity for an equal confrontation, turning justice into a one-sided process,” the statement said.

The reaction adds to ongoing criticism from veteran groups regarding the conduct of proceedings at the Specialist Chambers.
