A mass stabbing incident in the province of Manitoba has left one person dead and at least six others injured, Canadian authorities confirmed.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the suspect also died during the incident, which occurred Thursday in the Hollow Water First Nation community, located about 200 km northeast of Winnipeg.
Police described the tragedy as a “mass casualty event”.
Provincial health authorities stated that eight individuals were transported to hospitals, some by air ambulance and others by road. A spokesperson confirmed that the victims arrived with various degrees of injuries.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack, while investigations remain ongoing.
