Lawyer Arianit Koci has announced that he will protest again today in front of the Kosovo Assembly. Through a Facebook post, he appealed to citizens to boycott their elected members of parliament (MPs).

“We know beforehand: even today, for the 32nd time, the MPs will not reach an agreement. Another lost day. Another proof that the state is disintegrating – not due to any war, but due to stubbornness and irresponsibility. Without Parliament, there are no laws; without laws, there is no order, no state. There is only dragging on, chaos, and silence. The government is acting, but without control. Decisions are lacking, accountability doesn’t exist, institutions are frozen – the country is blocked. All this, because they – simply – can behave this way. They are behaving this way with us because we are allowing them. They can. They are manipulating us. And we are silent. There are no more excuses. It is time to be more active, more aware, more vocal. Because if we don’t take the situation into our hands, they won’t do anything to solve it.”

Call for Action and Moral Punishment

Koci further urged citizens to take symbolic action: “Today, at least – a symbolic step: to follow them by name and surname. To know clearly: are they in session, or in some holiday resort? Let’s ruin their Sunday, because they are ruining our lives. They have usurped our future. I, meanwhile – am preparing. Because the big protest will come. At the 50th meeting of the MPs – I will be there. Then, no one will be able to hide anymore. Neither behind the Assembly doors, nor behind empty words that say nothing. Because we have waited enough. We have been silent enough. Now – it’s time for action. For moral punishment. For political responsibility. Until then, until the 50th time, let them be exposed in shame, in failure, in silence, in evasion of responsibility,” Koci wrote.

He concluded with a direct appeal: “Therefore, if you want to stop them, start with yourselves: I beg you – boycott the MPs. Don’t listen to them. Don’t treat them as representatives. Treat them as small-time hagglers with big mandates. Because until they form the Parliament – they don’t represent anyone. Not you. Not me. Not Kosovo. Our silence – their power.
