Lawyer Arianit Koci has issued a warning to the Kosovar diaspora, urging them not to travel through Serbia with UÇK emblems or stickers on their vehicles. Koci reported that a fellow citizen was arrested after Serbian authorities noticed the UÇK emblem on their car.

Koci described the arrest as arbitrary and legally unjustifiable, emphasizing that expressing a political or historical identity does not constitute a criminal offense under European human rights standards.

“In this case, these measures are being used as a tool of political pressure. Relations between the states are tense, and ordinary citizens are paying the price, remaining exposed to arbitrary actions. Mutual awareness and caution among us are currently the only real protection. For your safety, if you are transiting through Serbia, remove any such signs,” Koci said.

The full advisory stresses:

  • Do not travel through Serbia with UÇK emblems or stickers on your car.
  • Arrests over such emblems are considered arbitrary and legally unjustifiable.
  • Citizens are exposed to political pressure and must exercise mutual awareness and caution.

Koci concluded by urging the public to share the warning widely to ensure the safety of all travelers.
