The Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, paid tribute in Prekaz and emphasized the Jashari family’s crucial role in the creation of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
After paying his respects at the graves of the Jashari family in Prekaz, Konjufca remarked that the Jashari family was the creator and essence of the KLA. He acknowledged the family’s supreme act of sacrifice for the freedom of Kosovo.
“Every 5th, 6th, and 7th of March, we come here together to bow before the graves of the fallen Jasharis of 1998, because the Jashari family is the creator of the Kosovo Liberation Army. They are the essence of the KLA, and they also made the highest act, the most sublime act of sacrifice for the freedom of our country,” Konjufca stated.
He continued by emphasizing that the Jashari family embodied the truth that saved the people of Kosovo—that freedom cannot be won without weapons in hand and the sacrifice of martyrs.
“They had in their hearts and souls a truth that saved the people of Kosovo, and that truth is that freedom cannot be won without weapons in hand, by fighting with weapons in hand, and it cannot be won without giving martyrs. This is how the Jashari family acted, and for this reason, we as a nation, as a people, owe them the most for the freedom and liberation of the Republic of Kosovo,” Konjufca concluded.
