The Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, participated in the closing session of the 11th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).
Speaker Konjufca stated that the vision for cooperation and achieving common aspirations inherently includes the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to him, this cooperation will pave the way for Kosovo’s full and genuine inclusion and collaboration.
Konjufca said that such meetings reaffirm the shared commitment to promote regional cooperation, economic development, and enhance security, stability, and prosperity in South-Eastern Europe.
“I emphasized that the vision for cooperation and achieving common aspirations inherently includes the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo by all countries in this region, to pave the way for full and genuine inclusion and cooperation. I also highlighted the need to support Kosovo’s aspiration for membership in international structures, including the Council of Europe, in the spirit of commitment to a region as united as possible around common values and goals. This was previously achieved with the visa liberalization for our citizens, for which we are grateful, and it should be repeated, in the spirit of our shared future,” he said.
Konjufca also spoke about the terrorist attack on September 24 of last year in Banjskë, emphasizing that those responsible, who are being protected by Serbia, should be brought to justice.
“In my speech, I also highlighted the event of September 24, 2023, when a brutal terrorist attack was carried out against the Republic of Kosovo, resulting in the killing of Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku and the wounding of two other police officers. This was a severe blow not only to cooperation but also to regional security and stability. Therefore, this act should be condemned by everyone without exception, and those responsible, who are sheltered and protected by Serbia, should be brought to justice. Without these positions and actions, it will be difficult to achieve the goals of SEECP,” he emphasized.
“In concluding my speech, I called for us to work together by reaffirming our commitment to the principles of equality, inclusiveness, and regional cooperation, ensuring that no member of our community is marginalized and that the Strategy for South-Eastern Europe 2030 fulfills its promise of leaving no one behind and fostering a region where every state can thrive. At the conclusion of the 11th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process, we issued a joint final declaration,” Konjufca wrote.
