The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, has extended his congratulations on the occasion of November 28th, Albania’s Independence Day.
He stated that this day of Albanian unity reminds everyone of the sacrifice, ideal, and enduring significance of Albania’s Independence Day, the spirit of the same struggle under a single national flag.
“Today, we began with homage at the historic Prekaz, where November 28th calls on us to remember the first public appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army, where we bow with the deepest respect and highest admiration for the sacrifice of the Jashari family and the legendary commander Adem Jashari, who was born precisely on this date, as if it were predestined for him to carry the weight of this national day, to again reveal its wonderful power as a source of freedom. In order to move forward, we had to look back in history, honoring the patriotic deeds of the distinguished fighter Isa Boletini. The independence of Albania was declared as the affirmation of the political will of the Albanian people, but also as resistance to the occupation of Albanian territories. In this time of war, the contribution of Isa Boletini and all the other fighters in the effort to preserve the territory and consolidate internal national unity remains key to the partial realization of the aspiration for a free, independent, and sovereign Albania,” wrote the Speaker on Facebook.
“We concluded our tributes by bowing before the statue of Ismail Qemali in Pristina, this figure of wisdom and knowledge who raised the red and black flag of independence and the Albanian state. In his white beard, one can see the maturity of the long Albanian struggle for freedom, independence, and statehood, from the League of Prizren to the wars, to the clarity of the National Renaissance for emancipation, education, and consciousness, to the political and diplomatic organizations, and all of this culminating in November 28th, 1912, which still inspires us today, fills us with dignity, and opens up horizons.”
“To all Albanians wherever they are, happy November 28th, the day of independence and the Albanian flag, the most important day for our nation! May it forever be an inspiration and guide for our shared conscience!”
