Kosovo is pursuing the adoption of digital systems to enhance border security and migration management, Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla announced during the Salzburg Forum, a regional meeting focused on cooperation in migration and border management.
During his speech, Minister Sveçla welcomed the launch of the Entry/Exit System (EES), calling it an important step toward modernizing and digitizing the external borders of the Schengen Area. He emphasized Kosovo’s interest in benefiting from such systems to strengthen border control and improve migration management.
Sveçla also highlighted the importance of informing Kosovo citizens about travel and residence regulations in the Schengen zone, as well as domestic rules aligned with EU directives, through public campaigns and dedicated online platforms.
Regarding regional cooperation, the Minister praised collaboration with Frontex, noting joint efforts with the Kosovo Police at key border points and Pristina International Airport. He reiterated Kosovo’s commitment to deepening cooperation with European partners and advancing collaboration with EUROPOL, aiming to serve as a reliable partner for regional and broader security.
