The Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo (Zyra e Kryeministrit të Kosovës) provided details following a meeting between Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Albania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali.

During the discussions, both leaders emphasized the strategic importance of cross-border infrastructure projects, particularly the Gjakovë–Shkodër railway, which was described as a priority for the current mandate. Plans aim for construction to commence as soon as possible.

The railway project is expected to have significant economic and regional impact, strengthening connections between Kosovo and Albania, enhancing the movement of goods and people, and supporting sustainable development in both countries.

The meeting also highlighted the need to continue joint intergovernmental meetings (G2G), with one planned to take place in 2026. Additionally, discussions covered coordinated foreign policy efforts, mutual support in international organizations and forums, and enhancing cooperation with the Albanian diaspora. Special attention was given to promoting the Albanian language and culture among younger generations.

Both sides agreed that the diaspora remains a key factor for economic, diplomatic, and cultural development, calling for joint engagement and a coordinated strategy to maximize its potential.
