The Director General of Kosovo Customs, Agron Llugaliu, held an official meeting with his Albanian counterpart, Besmir Beja, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing the joint agenda in the customs sector.

During the meeting, progress achieved over the years and the high level of institutional coordination were acknowledged, which has directly contributed to improving procedures, increasing operational efficiency, and expanding trade exchanges between the two countries.

“Special attention was given to the functioning of the Kosovo Customs Office at the Port of Durrës, as well as the implementation of the One Stop Shop system at the Morinë border crossing. These mechanisms were recognized as successful models of cooperation that have reduced waiting times, lowered costs for businesses, and facilitated the movement of goods and passengers,” the Kosovo Customs statement reads.

Llugaliu emphasized the strategic importance of Kosovo Customs’ presence at the Port of Durrës, describing it as a key instrument for strengthening the competitive position of Kosovo’s economic operators and increasing access to regional and broader markets.

The discussions also addressed shared priorities for further digitalization, enhancing electronic data exchange, and strengthening cooperation in joint investigations, aiming to increase transparency, security, and prevent illegal activities.

In conclusion, both sides stressed their commitment to further consolidating institutional partnership and taking new steps to support trade facilitation and sustainable economic development in Kosovo and Albania.
