Kosovo and Bulgaria have reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation on security and defense, as Acting Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci met with Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Hristo Kraevski.
The meeting focused on the regional security environment, recent developments and the importance of preserving lasting peace and stability in the Western Balkans.
Maqedonci and Kraevski also highlighted the strong relations between Pristina and Sofia and discussed opportunities to further expand bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Particular attention was given to Bulgaria’s role as both a NATO and EU member and its contribution to Kosovo’s security through participation in the NATO-led KFOR mission.
Kosovo officials described Bulgaria’s continued involvement in KFOR as an important contribution to stability in Kosovo and the wider region, while also welcoming Sofia’s support for Kosovo’s efforts toward greater integration into Euro-Atlantic structures.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing readiness to deepen cooperation in security and defense and to continue working together toward shared regional objectives.
The discussions come as security cooperation and Euro-Atlantic integration remain central priorities for Kosovo amid a changing security environment across the Western Balkans.
