Former U.S. President Donald Trump has spoken about his efforts to prevent a clash between Serbia and Kosovo, highlighting his role in de-escalating tensions in the region during a press conference held this Friday, Rks News reports.

Trump emphasized that Kosovo and Serbia were on the brink of a major conflict, and claimed that he intervened by threatening both countries with economic consequences.

“Serbia and Kosovo were ready to clash. They were heading toward a major war. I told them: If you clash, there will be no more trade with the United States. They said: Maybe we won’t clash,” Trump declared.

His statement echoes his past claims about a similar intervention between India and Pakistan, where he said he acted to prevent a potential nuclear war.

“I was negotiating with both sides. And I told Scott, I told Howard: Cancel all trade agreements with India and Pakistan. They won’t trade with us if they’re at war.
They called back and asked: What should we do? I said: Look, if you want trade with the U.S., great. If you want to start using nuclear weapons against each other, we won’t allow that,” Trump added.

Trump’s remarks reflect his continued framing of foreign policy success as one of strong-arm diplomacy and economic leverage, taking credit for avoiding international conflicts through U.S. influence.
