The Kosovo Assembly has approved a resolution by 90 votes in favor and 1 against, calling on the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and the Office of the Specialist Prosecutor in The Hague to conduct fair judicial proceedings against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

Members of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) did not participate in the vote after their request to add a point to the resolution’s content was rejected.

During the presentation of the resolution, Perparim Gruda, an MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), stated that the resolution was drafted by independent experts.

Following the reading of the resolution, Jehona Lushaku, head of the LDK parliamentary group, clarified that there had only been agreement to place the item on the agenda, not agreement on its content.

She requested the addition of the following point:

“This resolution calls on all law and order institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and encourages international support to intensify efforts toward fully investigating all unresolved cases that occurred during and after the war in Kosovo, in order to ensure justice for all victims, uncover the truth, and strengthen the rule of law based on principles of impartiality and equality before the law.”

Afterwards, Gruda stated that there would be no changes to the resolution’s content, and the Assembly approved the resolution in full with 90 votes in favor.
