The Assembly of Kosovo is set to convene today at 11:00 AM for the 32nd time since April 15, in yet another attempt to constitute itself, Reporteri.net writes.

The process has been stalled due to the inability to elect a Speaker of the Assembly. Albulena Haxhiu, nominated by Vetëvendosje for the position, has failed to secure the necessary 61 votes in any of the previous ballots

Political Divisions and Standoff

Political parties have refused to support Albulena Haxhiu’s candidacy for Speaker and are against a secret ballot. Vetëvendosje insists on not changing either the proposed name or the voting method.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) have requested a new candidate from VV, while the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has declared that it will not vote for any of their candidates.

President Vjosa Osmani has so far held two consultative meetings with political leaders to discuss the constitution, and is expected to appeal to the Constitutional Court to seek a legal solution for the blockade.
