Kosovo’s Assembly has once again failed to constitute, marking the 27th unsuccessful attempt to elect its leadership today. The ongoing political deadlock continues to prevent the formation of new government institutions.
The Vetëvendosje Movement continued its efforts to change the voting method for the Assembly Speaker to a secret ballot but failed to garner sufficient support. Today, their proposal received only 50 votes, reports Reporteri.net.
Other parties, including the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and the Serb List, did not propose any members for the secret ballot commission and ultimately did not participate in the voting process for the commission’s composition.
Following the failed vote on the commission, acting Speaker Avni Dehari adjourned the session.
“50 deputies for, one against, no abstentions. The session is adjourned. We meet on June 7, at 11:00 AM,” Dehari announced, confirming yet another delay in the formation of Kosovo’s legislative body.
