The constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly has begun, formally launching the process of establishing the new parliamentary legislature.
The session is being chaired by Avni Dehari, the oldest member of the newly elected Assembly, in accordance with parliamentary procedures.
During the opening proceedings, parliamentary groups began proposing members of the temporary committee responsible for verifying the mandates of the newly elected deputies.
The new legislature had been scheduled to convene at 10:00 a.m., with deputies from several political parties arriving in the Assembly hall ahead of the session.
Members of Vetëvendosje, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance were among those seen attending the proceedings.
The mandate-verification process is expected to be followed by the swearing-in of deputies and further procedures required for the formal constitution of the Assembly, including the election of its leadership.
The constitution of the Assembly marks the first major step toward the formation of Kosovo’s new institutions following the recent parliamentary elections.
