The Kosovo Assembly has announced that the continuation of its constituent session will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., following today’s interruption by Speaker Dimal Basha.

The session was halted after Serb deputy Nenad Rašić failed to secure the required votes to become deputy speaker representing the Serb minority.

Speaker Basha justified the suspension by arguing that Rašić had the “greatest chance” of taking the position since he received more votes than the other candidates from Srpska Lista.

However, Srpska Lista boycotted the vote, claiming that the procedure determined by Basha—drawing lots after their candidate Slavko Simić failed three consecutive times to secure parliamentary approval—was unconstitutional.

The continuation of the session is expected to determine whether Rašić or another candidate will fill the deputy speaker position reserved for the Serb minority.
