A day after the Constitutional Court’s ruling was published, the Kosovo Assembly has scheduled its constitutive session for Wednesday at 11:00, with the election of the speaker and deputy speakers on the agenda.

So far, Vetëvendosje (VV) insists on nominating Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker, while opposition parties demand respect for the Court’s ruling and hint they won’t support her candidacy. President Vjosa Osmani has urged deputies to act responsibly, calling the formation of institutions a state emergency.

According to the Court’s ruling, the Assembly must be constituted within 30 days, with VV entitled to propose the Speaker as the largest parliamentary group after the February 9 elections. However, the ruling limits the proposal to three voting attempts. Haxhiu has already failed multiple times to secure the required 61 votes.

  • PDK: Signals it won’t support Haxhiu, stressing respect for the Constitution and hinting VV should propose another candidate.
  • LDK: Will not back any VV nominee without a broader political agreement.
  • AAK: Calls the Court’s ruling binding and demands the political stalemate end tomorrow.
  • Presidency: Labels the matter a “state emergency,” urging deputies to act with responsibility to restore institutional functionality and strengthen Kosovo’s international standing.

The standoff continues, with VV determined to stand by Haxhiu, while the opposition insists on compromise—leaving tomorrow’s session uncertain.
