With just days remaining until Kosovo’s parliamentary elections on February 9, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has confirmed that all ballot papers have been printed and are ready for distribution.
A total of 1,752,650 ballots have been printed, covering various categories, including regular ballots, conditional voting, special needs voters, reserve ballots, and ballots for diplomatic missions abroad.
Breakdown of Printed Ballots
According to the CEC’s decision:
- 1,664,100 ballots are allocated for regular polling stations.
- 28,450 ballots are designated for conditional voting.
- 38,650 ballots are reserved for voters with special needs and additional reserves.
- 21,450 ballots are assigned for voting in diplomatic missions.
Voter Eligibility and Ballot Printing Policy
Kosovo’s certified voter list includes 2,075,868 eligible voters, with:
- 1,970,944 voters residing within Kosovo.
- 104,924 voters registered abroad.
The CEC has opted to print 323,218 fewer ballots than the total number of eligible voters, a reduction of 15.57%, consistent with past election practices.
“This is a standard procedure that the CEC has followed in previous electoral processes,” stated CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi.
With all logistical preparations in place, Kosovo is set for another electoral process, as citizens prepare to cast their votes on February 9.
