Businesses across Kosovo, protesting today in Prishtina, are demanding that the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) suspend its decision to implement a free energy market within the next 10 days.

Lulzim Rafuna, head of the Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo, reiterated the businesses’ stance during the protest: “We have one single request: give us a transition phase, prepare the market, and then implement a package that all countries in Europe and beyond have had, which has helped businesses not feel any negative effects, not lead to reductions or business closures.”

Rafuna emphasized that businesses are not opposed to a free market in principle. “We are not to blame that the market was not prepared first, we don’t have competition, we have a monopoly,” he stated. “No business is against entering a free market; we want a free market, we want competition, we want to enter the free market by our will, not by force.”

He also issued a stern warning: “Those who ignore us will not win.
