The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KCC) has warned that businesses, supported by their employees, will protest next Wednesday at 12:00 PM if the government does not reconsider its decision regarding the move to a free energy market.

Following a meeting with businesses affected by the energy market transition, KCC President Lulzim Rafuna stated that they had agreed to call on the government to reflect on their demand for a transitional phase. This phase, they argue, is necessary for the market to prepare and for a support package to be established before businesses fully enter the free market on a mutually agreed date.

If there is no reflection, then businesses, together with their workers, will take to the streets next Wednesday at 12:00 PM to express our dissatisfaction with this decision and the lack of government responsiveness,” Rafuna told RTV21.

Rafuna further urged the Government to respect the businesses’ request for a transition period, citing current circumstances and conditions. He stressed the need to find a solution that effectively manages the transition and avoids the necessity for businesses to resort to public protests.
