Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, has condemned the recent shooting and kidnapping of a Kosovo citizen, M.V., by Serbian gendarmerie forces, calling it a blatant violation of Kosovo’s state borders.
In a public statement, Sveçla urged the international community to act decisively against Serbia, emphasizing that such aggression threatens the territorial integrity of Kosovo.
“This aggressive and provocative approach by Serbia is unacceptable. It constitutes a severe violation of our state borders and the rights of our citizens. It is high time for the international community to respond with clear and punitive measures against Serbia, to ensure these hostile acts are never repeated,” Sveçla wrote.
According to Sveçla, Serbia’s gendarmerie attempted to kill the citizen before abducting him, repeating a pattern of unpunished incursions. Two years ago, Serbian special units entered Kosovo and kidnapped three police officers, followed by a terrorist attack in Banjskë. These actions highlight a continuous policy of intimidation and violence against anyone opposing the aggressive policies of Aleksandar Vučić.
Sveçla stressed that the international community must intervene immediately to uphold Kosovo’s sovereignty and protect its citizens.
