Despite their defeat to Turkey in the play-off final, the Kosovo national football team received positive news in the latest FIFA rankings.
The “Dardans” have risen in the rankings, moving from 79th to 78th in the world — marking the best position in the team’s history.

This progress comes as a result of strong performances in recent matches, especially the dramatic 4-3 victory over Slovakia in the play-off semifinal held in Bratislava.
The new rankings were published on Wednesday, reflecting Kosovo’s continued rise on the international stage, even though their dream of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup ended at the final hurdle.
Meanwhile, Albania national football team experienced a slight drop, falling from 63rd to 64th following two recent losses.
At the top of the rankings, France national football team has claimed first place, overtaking Spain national football team, while Argentina national football team, led by Lionel Messi, drops to third.
