In a historic milestone for Kosovo’s judicial system, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo has been accepted as a full member of the European Conference of Constitutional Courts (ECCC). The decision was made during the Preparatory Meeting of the Presidents’ Circle of the 20th ECCC Congress, held in Tirana and hosted by the Constitutional Court of Albania.

Kosovo’s admission to this prestigious forum followed an official request submitted by the President of the Constitutional Court, Nexhmi Rexhepi. In his address, he emphasized that Kosovo’s goal was not to gain a political advantage but to secure its rightful place among members of a community that upholds the values of democracy, the rule of law, and human rights. “Our Court has proven itself to be a passionate guardian of these values,” he stated.

Founded in 1972, the ECCC consists of 40 constitutional and supreme courts from across Europe, serving as a key platform for legal cooperation and the exchange of expertise on constitutional matters. Kosovo’s membership not only strengthens its international standing in the field of justice but also enhances the credibility of its constitutional institutions on the European stage.
