Kosovo Police Arrest Two in Counterterrorism Operation for Spreading Extremist Ideology Online

Kosovo Police conducted an early morning counterterrorism operation today, May 22, 2025, resulting in the arrest of two individuals suspected of inciting division and intolerance, as well as spreading propaganda and ideology in support of terrorist organizations via social media platforms.

The operation was carried out by the Directorate Against Terrorism, in coordination with the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo.

According to police reports, the action involved two separate cases, leading to three residential searches in Fushë Kosovë and Malishevë.

“Following an extensive investigative process by officers of the Counterterrorism Directorate and under the supervision of the competent prosecutor from the Special Prosecution, a successful police operation was conducted early this morning,” Kosovo Police announced.

The operation targeted individuals suspected of using online platforms to incite hate speech and promote ideologies aligned with terrorist groups.

Authorities confirmed that both suspects were apprehended without incident, and further legal actions will be taken in coordination with the justice system.

This case highlights Kosovo’s ongoing efforts to counter online radicalization and protect national security through strategic legal and investigative frameworks.
