Kosovo Customs announced today that it has collected over 1 billion euros in revenue by the third week of July 2025. This represents a substantial increase of 9.7% compared to the same period last year, demonstrating high efficiency and exceeding annual targets.
Exceeding Targets and Combating Informal Economy
This year’s revenue of over 1 billion euros significantly surpasses the 912 million euros collected during the same period in 2024. This achievement is not only above last year’s performance but also considerably exceeds the official projection for customs revenues for this period.
Kosovo Customs highlighted that since the pandemic, the increase in revenue collection has more than doubled the pace of economic growth, despite significant reductions in effective tax rates due to fiscal policies. This strong performance attests to robust interventions in the informal economy. This success is crucial for Kosovo’s economy, enabling more efficient allocation of the state budget to public needs and avoiding business disparities.
Commitment to Modernization and Rule of Law
The institution noted that its achievements in combating the informal economy over recent years, especially compared to the pre-pandemic period, are significantly higher, demonstrating a sustained institutional and professional commitment. The contribution to strengthening the rule of law in North Mitrovica and the suspension of several suspicious activities in the field of derivatives have played a notable role in this success.
These positive results are attributed to operational efficiency, concrete measures for trade facilitation, and a continuous dedication to modernizing and digitizing processes.
Kosovo Customs expressed special gratitude to the Government of Kosovo and law enforcement institutions for their unwavering cooperation and support. They also thanked international partners who support Customs in its operations and capacity building, considering them a crucial pillar of this success. The staff of Kosovo Customs was also acknowledged as the main pillar of this achievement, with their continuous dedication ensuring direct public service results.
Given the current trend and ongoing commitment, Kosovo Customs anticipates that this pace of performance will continue until the end of the year, ensuring stable revenue collection and increasingly better services for citizens and the economy.
