Kosovo’s Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, is participating in the ministerial meeting of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter Initiative (A5) in Tirana, aimed at advancing Kosovo’s full membership in this initiative.

In a Facebook post, Maqedonci expressed his concerns about the recent terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal on November 29, as well as the lack of accountability for those responsible for the September 24 attack in Banjskë.

Here is Maqedoni’s full post:

“At the U.S.-Adriatic Charter (A5) ministerial meeting in Tirana, I emphasized Kosovo’s full commitment and strong aspiration to become a full member of this important initiative. Invited by my Albanian counterpart, Minister of Defense Mr. Pirro Vengu, today I addressed my colleagues from the region to reiterate Kosovo’s readiness to become a full-fledged member state within this initiative. Furthermore, I raised once again the issue of Serbia’s hegemonic and chauvinistic approach towards Kosovo, as well as its refusal to take responsibility for the September 24, 2023, aggression in Banjskë, and its lack of cooperation in bringing those responsible to justice.

Serbia’s policies, which aim to destabilize security in Kosovo, culminated in the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal on November 29. These actions not only threaten Kosovo’s security but also undermine regional stability, creating an atmosphere of insecurity that disrupts peace efforts in the Western Balkans and hinders any attempts at fostering good neighborly relations.

The Republic of Kosovo has fulfilled all the necessary criteria and is now ready to take full responsibility and contribute as a full member of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter (A5). No force, no matter how aggressive in its politics or brutal in its actions, will stop Kosovo’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

For national security, regional peace, and Euro-Atlantic integration!”
